Christmas is just a month away and Chanukah is even sooner, which means this gift guide is probably already too late. Apologies. Though, on second thought, ’tis always the season to buy your friends, your family, and yourself a little something great. I can say with pride that I have never let a silly thing like a calendar stop me from spending my money on things I don’t need. So, on that note, here are three of my current favorites for giving and getting:
Yes, I want all the Diptyque candles on any given day, and I always have two of the Feu de Bois ones on hand in my apartment at all times. But oh, the holiday ones are SO good each year. Check the description for Oliban ($70): “A thousand and one mysteries are released through the sweet oriental vapours of incense.” What does that even mean? Unclear, but I will take four. Someone give the Diptyque copywriter a promotion.
Lipstick Queen’s Hello Sailor ($25) is a blue-toned lipstick that turns a pretty and sheer berry shade once applied, but I’m sold on it for the novelty aspect alone. This is basically the love child of a toy and a flattering beauty product — a gene pool I’d like all of my makeup to share DNA with.
Do you know what no one really needs? A $50 nail polish. Which is why Christian Louboutin’s version makes the perfect gift for the beauty-lover in your life. It’s a bit impractical and a bit indulgent — as all perfect presents should be. Bonus points: Aside from being the ideal shade of red, the 8-inch tall, handcrafted glass bottle will steal the attention away from the rest of your recipient’s polish collection, so she can think of you all year long.
