Jamaican Me Beautiful: Sweat-Proof, Pretty-fying Products We Love

So C and I are back from a lovely jaunt to our friend’s wedding in beautiful Montego Bay, Jamaica. Everything was grand: the hotel, the people, the event. And even though it rained one day, C is bronze and I am, err, sort of tan-ish? But anyway, it being the Caribbean, when the sun was out, it was strong, and when the sun went in, it was … still humid. So what products to bring? Here’s what got me through three days in paradise:

New favorite sunscreen
La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid in SPF 50: The holy grail of sunscreens, La Roche-Posay is constantly recommended by beauty experts. And, after finally purchasing a bottle, I can see why. It’s light, non-greasy, and really works. Sure, it takes a little while to really rub it in, but once absorbed, I was left without any sunburn– or breakouts. Quite a feat.

Lines and lines of liners
Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Sparkling Black: A quick swipe of this super-smooth liner, followed by a tiny bit of blending, and you’re set for hours. Seriously- this included no smudges even after dancing outside at night. I’m a big fan of the sparkling black shade, which adds just a hint of shimmer, not teenybopper glitter.

Perfect pink-nude. You’re welcome.
CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Smitten : I’ll have to start this one off with the disclaimer that it’s not the most long-lasting lipstick I have ever worn, but I am fully obsessed with the fact that it’s non-drying, super smooth, and the perfect shade of pink-y nude (atleast for a pale girl like myself). I’d been looking for a flattering nude to compliment a smokey eye forever, and this one fits the bill.

Eyeshadow for dummies
Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Mighty Moss: Literally, the easiest thing to use– this stick glides right over your lids, and gives the prettiest wash of color. I used it sparingly for the slightest greenish/grayish pop of color, but it can also be layered for a more intense effect. And it feels lightweight and beachy; definitely will be keeping it around all spring and summer.
And, of course, my essentials also came with: Make Up For Ever Pro-Finish Powder, Josie Maran Argan Oil, and Stila Custom Color Blush
