Fun in the Sun(block)

Your new best friend.
Readers, we are back from our Disney adventure. Apologies for not posting sooner, but I think C and I were in denial that we were actually back at work and looking at computers, rather than sitting poolside with margaritas looking at US Weekly. It hurts. Aside from the somewhat alarming number of mosquito bites I received, it was a truly amazing trip (as expected), and we saw zebras and antelope right outside our window. Only in Disney, folks. At the Animal Kingdom Lodge. C’s post on Magic Kingdom beauty trends is soon to follow, but I wanted to share with you my new favorite sunblock, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock, SPF 30.

Normally, each summer, I buy Aveeno Continuous Protection Sunblock SPF 30, but when I saw Neutrogena was on sale in CVS before my trip, I decided to try this Sheer Dry-Touch business. It’s always recommended in mags (albeit the SPF 55 or 100 versions), so I figured why not. C mentioned she had had some trouble with other Neutrogena sunblock varieties, as they were too thick and didn’t absorb well, but this one worked out quite well. The 3oz bottle is airplane travel-friendly, it has no scent, and it blended into my skin seamlessly. Usually I burn a bit even with sunblock, atleast in certain spots, like my sun-starved neck and shoulders after they’re first exposed. But not so this year! Despite the 90 degree poolside heat and my subsequent sweat, the sunblock stayed on and I was left sunburn-free, a huge feat for my pale self. Oh and I used it on my face too, and it didn’t make my skin- which was already having a outbreak moment due to the humidity- any worse. And the small bottle lasted through many applications, with more than enough left for my next beach trip, whenever the weather in NYC decides to stop being unseasonably cold. What more can you ask. So I guess you can say I understand all the Neutrogena hype. Go buy it. Done.
